Forces for Architecture - Open Lab,
with Benthem Crouwel Architects

Typically, buildings are designed to protect us against forces of nature, forming a shelter from wind, rain, and heat. We are wondering, do natural phenomena also offer opportunities for new, interactive forms of architecture?

In September 2015, designer Jólan van der Wiel and Benthem Crouwel Architects started Forces for Architecture – a research lab that explores how natural phenomena can serve the built environment.

Various experiments have been conducted in the lab, resulting in conceptual models, materials and ‘building skins’ that respond to natural forces. Recent prototypes of the lab will be presented on June 2nd at Benthem Crouwel Architects.

Forces for Architecture – Open Lab
2 June 2016
17:00 – 20:00 hrs
Generaal Vetterstraat 61, Amsterdam
