Energy

Everything around us is in constant motion, energy moves undetected through the air, our bodies, and the objects we use. Is it possible to visualize the way in which energy travels from A to B? This ongoing investigation sets out to make visible this mysterious transmission to the naked eye.

For Energy, Van der Wiel has developed cables and surfaces that show the flows of electricity that run through them in the form of changing colours and light. Parts of the Energy research were carried out in collaboration with design collective Dutch Invertuals, and have been exhibited in Eindhoven, Milan, and San Francisco.
