Forces of Nature

From December 13 – 22 2014, Cityscapes Gallery happily presented the solo-exhibition “JÓLAN VAN DER WIEL (Forces of Nature)”.

Jólan van Der Wiel is a young and upcoming artist/designer with a fervent fascination for the fundamental forces of nature. His works show his exploration of these forces and his attempts to translate them into communicative and innovative objects. His field of interest ranges widely from design to fashion to architecture and art.

Since he left the Rietveld Academy in 2011, he has internationally been heralded as a new star on the firmament of art and design, cooperating with famous fashion designer Iris van Herpen, being invited for numerous expositions and receiving several rewards and funds.

In this first solo-exhibition van der Wiel’s work was shown from several angles, bringing insight into the span of his fascination for natural forces in general, with a special emphasis on experiments to make architecture meet magnetism.
